Staff supports and facilitates a monthly meeting, Salud para Todos, to define needed trainings for system partners and volunteers. Two bi-lingual Mental Health First Aid trainers were funded by BHECN in 2023 and they provided trainings in Central NE in 2024. They are the only bi-lingual mental health trainers in Nebraska outside of a few in Omaha. These two trainers continue to increase their 'train the trainer' skills to offer additional training. They have been asked to train others in surrounding counties, in which our funders have supported the geographic challenge to meeting needs in other communities with these shortages. It will be the collaboratives focus to continue to build these services in our county and beyond in 2025+. The new funding from Nebr. Department of Economic Development will support two bi-lingual childcare champions to serve 26 central NE counties to find persons willing to become high quality licensed childcare professionals. A challenge we need to overcome is the requirement of national programs for non English speaking person to register electronically for trainings. We are also needed to build a better system to register people and promote.

The Holt/Boyd Community Connections Collaborative purchased a Lexmark Printer that will automatically translate documents into additional languages. In our two counties Spanish is the language that is most spoken outside of English. Any community member, business, etc. will be able to access this copier at the O'Neill Library.

Empowering Families, UNL Panhandle Research and Extension District, and Panhandle Partnership are working collaboratively to design programming to increase our community's level of belonging. As part of Panhandle Partnership’s Training Academy, we host the Welcoming Communities Conference, focused on providing professionals and community leaders from our rural community a forum for awareness, dialogue, and skill-building. We believe this experience will help create welcoming and inclusive environments within all facets of our community. The project includes the development of a community-wide strategic plan to increase belonging in the Panhandle and ongoing training opportunities throughout the year. This project considers racial equity and leadership development by educating local professionals and decision-makers on ways to change their systems, policies, and procedures to ensure they are equitable and inclusive of all community members, including working families and children. Lastly, this project will engage the community when designing its programming, which will help increase the sense of ownership in creating a community centered on belonging.
