Community Partners has been given an amazing opportunity to be housed on the UNK campus for the next year. The board created a list of 'engagement points' for the organization in the next year, many of these engagement opportunities have been completed or are getting started. Staff is engaging with multiple colleges to share the work, several retired professors have met with staff and donated toward the work and internships are growing deeper and more rewarding for all involved. UNMC nursing program worked with staff to launch three Community Assessment Population (CAP) projects around opioid prevention, distribution of narcan and food security. UNMC intends to connect three CAP projects every semester to leverage community work 12 months per year. The organization has also joined Give Nebraska in 2025 to connect with UNK faculty and staff in a statewide fundraiser in 2025. Educational partners are required sectors to be represented on every collaborative, board, and community work groups.

Our intern, Genesis Acosta, (first generation college student) has invited our partners to work with UNK Latino Leaders in providing training. In 2024, staff assisted in bringing bi-lingual mental health training and promotive/protective factor training for latino middle schools students. This event is planned in 2025 and we will work in partnership with UNK. In addition, the UNK Latino Leaders are asking for support in early 2025 to support a conference for all UNK Students. There has also been some conversations about developing a list of Latino business owners in Buffalo County that could be promoted and utilized by our partners to do business with local businesses. The organization also conducts a READI survey of all volunteers asking for a volunteer to share their lived and learned experiences as well as ethnic and cultural backgrounds to help build an organization that represents the community it serves. The READI survey asks for experience in head injury, disabilities, languages, parenting, fostering, substance misuse, mental health and many other areas where a volunteer could bring their lived experience and a voice in community decision making.

We will continue to work with MOEC, the school districts, and AttendanceWorks to collaborate on addressing truancy in our schools at the elementary and middle school levels. During the 2022-2023 school year 20.8% of middle school children and 12.5% of elementary school children were missing more than 20 days of the school year. In our meetings in 2024 we identified the partners that needed to be at the table and started narrowing down the list of reasons children were missing school. We will collectively work to narrow the list down to the top three reasons and we will work together to address these "reasons", work to prevent them from being reasons for future children, and decrease the percentage of children missing more than 20 days.

Ensure Full Integration of YC3’s Staff into the Organization’s Work and Facilitate Ongoing Dialogue on the Statewide Plan. Enable YC3 staff to become thoroughly familiar with and fully integrated into NCFF’s contract and ongoing projects, while promoting regular, productive discussions about the statewide plan. This will ensure alignment and strategic collaboration. Ongoing, structured conversations regarding the statewide plan will help staff stay aligned with NCFF’s broader strategic goals, contributing effectively to its development and execution. Increased collaboration and communication between YC3 staff and the NCFF team will cultivate a shared understanding of how YC3’s work supports the statewide strategy.
